Second Year
Students are taught by several teachers.
They must be at ease with their clown's personality and be sufficiently mature to benefit from the different points of view they will receive from the teaching staff.
Set downs intended to get the clown going :
- The clown in public : to achieve (a flop or a success) and reach an objective or face a challenge
- The clown at home
- The clown in a gang
Set downs intended to get the author going :
- Dramatic situations : aim/obstacle, protagonist, leadership, fight
- Monologue and theater play writing
- Writing for the clown and the camera
Building up scenes :
Solos, duos and trios are forms that are often found in clown performances. At each form, its conflicts. They place the the clown into his/her right position
Solos : the clown shows inner conflicts. The white clown, the Auguste and the Counterpitre are one person. It is nevertheless a two persons relationship, the clown with the public.
Duos : the first difficulty is to find the right partner ! The one who sends back the dynamics. In great duos, if one leaves, the other dies. One has the power, the other sustains it, diverts it, takes it back. Conflicts arise from this dual relationship. There is a third person : the two clowns and the public.
Trios : This is already a world, it goes fast ! The relations are multiplied as each clown changes sides. Another is involved : the public. The chief (the white clown) attempts to organize something between the Auguste who is willing and the contrepitre who cannot be controlled.
Producing a cabaret :
It is the time for synthesis. The clowns are requested to dive into their notebooks (writings, drawings, photos, various emotions) so as to collect all the elements discovered during the two years. It is time to face the clown freedom through the production. Rehearsals take place during one month full time. The show is played in public during a week in June.
