First Year
Acting : personnal training. Improvisation is the core of this year work. The aim is to become capable of approaching the requirements of a clown
Techniques required :
- Body musicality : rythm, tempo, silences.
- Acting clarity : stillness, clear identification of intentions, the way you look and what you look at.
- Attention to the partner : where the focus is, major / minor tones
- The variety of emotions
Play and re-play :
- Playing openly to the public
- Masked, neutral, embryonic, expressive play
- Characters built from the re-play of characters taken from everyday-life, from animals, or from the sporting world.
Highlighting the clown's first moments : how to project each student's "world" : his/her sensitivity, his/her attitude to others (sociable, solitary, pleasant, awful, familiar or far-away, one of ours or from elsewhere, down to earth or not, intellectual or sporting, wonderfully sly or terribly candid . . .) ; his/her physique : rhythm, behavior, look ; the reactions to the flop.
The clown's assets :
- Music : theory, instruments, band
- Circus techniques
- Slapping and various hitting techniques
- How to handle objects
- Writing workshop : for short performances only
2009/2010
Main classes (2 days per week) - clown - circus - music - writing - movement - clown's asset (mask, slapping, falling)
Optional - Singing, tap dance, text, dance and music - Burlesque, bouffon
Band - classes, workshop, reharsals and parades
